Mar. 4th, 2026 08:39 pmI've started re-watching Fellowship of the Rings, possibly for the first time in 20 years, or 15?.
Either way....
I know I haven't watched it in 10 years, and I am not sure I've watched it in 2010 when I returned from New Zealand.
It's wild, I'd walked some of those places as a kid, and as an adult, more.
It's interesting as a a film. Some of the SFX are dated, and I can see the compositing.
Still, some of the acting is subtle.
And, because I have been reviving my D&D brain cells lately, there are parts of the movie I recognise in the post LOTR books (REF's Magician, the Eddings' Belgariad, and a million more. (plus all of the shit D&D books).
It is hard to argue that LOTR isn't the best "high fantasy" movie ever.
