My latest romantic experiment - 100 dates
Dec. 7th, 2009 03:25 pm 100 dates.
You can read about it on the blog, or follow it on Twitter. (I'm @stokely, and you can also follow the #100dates hashtag).
It's basically a very old fashioned approach to dating - asking my friends and my online network to recommend people they think I might like. Hopefully, given the ease by which people can share information and recommendations online, I'll end up with a cool 'friend of a friend' network happening, and meet people I might not have met otherwise.
So, if you're feeling karmically generous, please check it out and think about whether you have a guy friend I should meet. :)
I've just put it all online today, so I'd also welcome ideas or feedback on how to tweak the project to make it work better.

Date: 2009-12-08 08:37 am (UTC)The exhibitionist element of it all (we all get to read about what happened) is interesting. On the one hand, I think that our world would be better if we weren't so obsessively concerned about privacy. On the other hand, the reality of our world is that it's obsessively concerned about privacy.
I think this idea has the potential to work extremely well. Good luck.

Date: 2009-12-08 08:43 am (UTC)It's asking a lot of the people who aren't me. Because I get to call the shots about what gets published, and while I know I'm concerned about privacy, respect and consent, people who don't know me are kind of being asked to take that on faith. And of course, my definition of privacy, respect and consent may be quite different to theirs.
I hope people don't expect it to be a kiss and tell type of blog, because it won't be.
Thanks. :)
